Every year the MSP recruits underrepresented students from UCI and local Community Colleges to train and help them advance their careers in biomedical research. The MSP provides an intensive workshop to MBRS and Bridges scholars in which experienced researchers train them on principles, instrumentation and techniques used in biomedical research.

Students also attend a weekly Scientific Communications class where they are introduced to critical reading of current biomedical literature.
